*RuPaul's Drag Race** *production company World of Wonder has announced that Misua, a contestant who was set to appear on an upcoming international edition of the franchise, has died at age 27, before filming began.

In an emotional Instagram post on Thursday, WOW wrote, "We are heartbroken to share that Misua, a talented Queen set to appear on season four of *Drag Race Philippines** *passed away in her sleep the morning of April 2."

The post continued, with the production praising Misua for bringing "light, artistry, and joy to those around her," adding that "she will be deeply missed" by those who knew her.**

"We have paused production to care for and support our cast and crew during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who loved her," the statement continued.

After news broke of Misua's death, *Drag Race* judges and alums commented on WOW's post offering condolences. Longtime panelist Michelle Visage wrote, "Sending so much love," while *Drag Race Thailand* judge and *UK vs. the World* contestant Pangina Heals commented, "My condolences" alongside a flying dove emoji.

Other contestants offered sympathy as well, with season 17 star Jewels Sparkles responding with a series of broken heart emojis. Franchise stars Kerri Colby, Alexis Michelle, Lady Camden, Baga Chipz, Blu Hydrangea, DeJa Skye, Cynthia Lee Fontaine, and Kennedy Davenport also offered condolences in the comments, among others.

Misua's death comes almost one year after *RuPaul's Drag Race* season 4 and *All Stars 6* alum and permanent *Drag Race Philippines *judge Jiggly Caliente died at age 44 after being hospitalized for a severe infection.

Other* Drag Race* personalities from around the world have also died in recent months, with Emmy-nominated songwriter Gabe Lopez — who appeared on a recent episode of the original *Drag Race *series' 18th season on MTV — passing away in January.

*Drag Race Down Under* queen Maxi Shield died in February at age 51, after announcing in September 2025 that she'd been diagnosed with throat cancer.
