Katharine McPhee and her husband, David Foster, have been spending a lot of time out on the road, traveling from show to show via tour bus. In an interview with Page Six, McPhee talked about tour life with her 76-year-old composer husband.
“We do OK, we don’t kill each other," McPhee told the outlet, adding, that the "hard part of the tour is actually just like not sleeping very well."
“The joy is when we’re on stage poking fun at each other and getting to see how that night goes, and then getting on the bus to do the next city," McPhee added.
Elsewhere in the interview, McPhee, 41, discussed the "unconventional" bond she shares with Foster, whom she married in 2019. The two first met when McPhee was competing on Season 5 of American Idol back in 2006.
"So, it was a workplace [thing] and neither of us were looking at each other that way at all," she told Page Six, adding that the two bonded as friends long before falling in love.
McPhee and Foster have drawn a lot of criticism over their 35-year age gap. And, following their engagement, McPhee actually issued a snarky response to those who were overly concerned about the upcoming marriage.
"Y’all should be worrying more about registering to vote and midterm elections than who’s marrying me. Thank you for coming to my TED talk," she wrote on X in July 2018.
McPhee and Foster are parents to one son, Rennie, 4. Foster also has five adult daughters from previous relationships.
