Michigan football roster sees two players depart

It's that time of year, when there's roster attrition as teams start to earnestly embark upon the upcoming season. And for Michigan football, it appears that two players are no longer a part of the program.
Having come aboard in 2024, CJ Charleston was a wide receiver from Youngstown State who had a lot of promise. He saw sparing action that season, but in 10 games, he only registered one catch for 22 yards. Last season, injuries precluded him from seeing the field.
Likewise, Oklahoma running back Taylor Tatum, who in the 2024 recruiting class was the top tailback in the nation, came aboard via the transfer portal this offseason and promptly was moved to safety. There was little buzz about the former four-star after the move, with Rod Moore returning and Chris Bracy having transferred from Memphis.

As first reported by The Wolverine's Clayton Sayfie, both have departed the Wolverines.
With Charleston gone, Michigan will likely rely on some of its younger and transfer portal talent at the position. Likewise, at safety, with Tatum having departed, it will give more opportunities to players such as Kainoa Winston and Jacob Oden -- younger players who have yet to crack the rotation.
