French actor Pierre Deny has died

Deny, who was 69, died on Monday, May 25, after he was diagnosed with ALS, according to a statement shared by his daughters

Deny starred in seasons 3 and 4 of Emily in Paris as Louis de Léon, dad to Nicolas (Paul Forman)

French actor Pierre Deny has died.

Deny, who was 69, died on Monday, May 25. His daughters confirmed the news of his death in a statement, according to French outlet TF1. "It is with deep emotion that we announce the passing of Pierre Deny, which occurred this Monday following a sudden and severe case of ALS."

Deny's most recent roles were in the French series Camping Paradis and Le Fil d'Ariane, and he starred in three episodes of Emily in Paris.

In seasons 3 and 4, Deny played Louis de Léon, father to Nicolas (Paul Forman) and CEO of JVMA.

Actress Sylvie Vartan shared a tribute to Deny on Instagram on May 26. "I shared some great moments with him on stage in Isabelle Mergault's play. He was a generous actor and a sensitive and funny man," she wrote. "My thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this painful time."

Deny began his acting career in the '80s, and was best known for his roles in French TV series including Sous Le Soleil, Une femme d'honneur and Cinq soeurs.

Prior to Emily in Paris, he starred in over 300 episodes of the French soap opera Demain Nous Appartient, from its premiere in 2017 through 2023.
