The Chicago Bears have locked down one of their offensive cornerstones in right tackle Darnell Wright, who became one of the NFL's highest-paid tackles.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Bears signed Wright to a four-year contract extension worth $116 million with $93 million guaranteed. In fact, Wright is now the highest-paid right tackle in NFL history.

Wright was selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, and he was general manager Ryan Poles' first-ever first-round selection. And he's been a slam dunk pick for this franchise. In three seasons, Wright has started 49 games and has emerged as one of the NFL's best young tackles.

Wright is coming off the best year of his young career earning second-team All-Pro honors while being part of an offensive line that paved the way for the league's third-best rushing attack and allowed the second-fewest sacks in the regular season.

Earlier this offseason, Wright was voted the sixth best offensive tackle in the league in a poll from ESPN, which was voted upon by league coaches and execs.
