After months of questions — and terrifying fainting spells — Hen finally has a diagnosis. Now she just has to tell her kids.

*9-1-1* concluded its mid-season finale with Hen (Aisha Hinds) seeking answers about why she was lethargic, dealing with shaky hands, and even passed out at home for hours.

Despite many tests, she still didn't have answers — until last week, after passing out during a call, when she was diagnosed with dermatomyositis.

Now, ** has an exclusive preview clip from tonight's episode of Hen revealing her disease to her son Denny (Declan Pratt) and daughter Mara (Askyler Bell).

"Is it as scary as it sounds?" Denny asks his mom in the clip.

"It's an autoimmune disease," Hen responds. "It causes this rash on my hands and it attacks muscles, so I'll get tired more easily." (According to the Johns Hopkins Myositis Center, "Dermatomyositis is characterized by a rash that precedes or accompanies muscle weakness. The cause is unknown.")

"Now, we wanna be upfront with you two," adds Hen's wife, Karen (Tracie Thoms). "This can get serious..."

"But we're not going to let it," Hen's mom, Toni (Marsha Warfield), chimes in.

That said, Hen lets her kids know that there is no cure. "But there's treatments, and I've already started medications," she continues.

"Now that's the easy part," adds Karen. "For the rest, we're gonna need some help."

Prior to her health issues, Hen began season 9 battling disasters in space. When EW asked Hinds what was next for her character, she cheekily teased this health scare: "Maybe the earth might be pulled out from underneath her. If you have been rocking with us, you know that no one's safe at any given moment. [laughs] But at this time, I think she's just grateful to be back with her family — to be home and just to touch her bed and her living room, and her children and her wife. We're just gonna savor that for a second."

*9-1-1* season 9, episode 9, "Fighting Back" airs Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
